The Wedding

We did it!  We’re officially a family!  Thanks to all of you for your love, support, and celebration.  We’ll post pictures, videos, etc as they come in.

Here’s a quick post with some snapshots.

Mt. Index and Mt. Persis viewed from Town.

Molly and Ken are getting married!

When: Saturday, August 28th at 5 pm

Where: A Stone’s Throw, 406 Index Avenue, Index, WA 98256

Index is the smallest town in western Washington and where Ken grew up. The location is about 75 minutes NE of downtown Seattle, and is the gateway to the wild sky wilderness area. Index is just one mile off Highway 2 – one of the main east/west highways that cross our state. The Skykomish river runs right through the middle of town and is a great place to swim and inner tube with easy beach access right in town. Sheer granite cliffs and alpine mountains dominate the views in every direction.

Saturday, August 29th –

  • Free Time to explore (see Things to Do below)
  • 5 pm – Ceremony at A Stone’s Throw, 406 Index Avenue
  • 5:30 to 6:30 – Cocktail Hour at A Stone’s Throw
  • 6:30 –  Reception at “The River House” 444 Avenue A, Index
  • 10 pm – Bonfire, Smores

Sunday, August 29th –

We’re going to be dolled up.  We invite you to join us!

Think garden cocktail party!  I mean, that is what it is, after all…  Ladies- cocktail dresses, summer sparkly things, lots of layers (sweaters, wraps, etc) and flat shoes (or really sturdy wedges) for the lawns, street, and hills!  Gentlemen- suits would be lovely, good looking prepster duds (sportcoat, pink pants with embroidered whales) also welcome.  If you’d like to break out the tux, do it!  Of course, once you start dancing you’ll be peeling off the layers…

We are encouraging everyone who will be attending to get accommodations in and around Index. Here are our recommendations on where to stay, listed by most affordable:

Camping in Index. Seriously – this is a great option for an August weekend. The River House where the reception will be held is right on the river, and offers lots of space for camping for those of you in the mood. There are also several other great spots within a mile or two of town – connect with us and we can direct you.

  • The Stevens Pass Motel offers modest, clean rooms in Gold Bar which is only 8 miles from Index. If we have enough people using this option, we will provide a shuttle to and from the wedding so you can let your hair down. This is the only available motel type accommodations in the valley, so you’ll want to book ASAP.

Wedding Registry

You guys know us, never quite doing things the “traditional” way!

We’re in-between homes right now, as we’re about to embark on a yearlongish RV Trip around the States!  Receiving a bunch of lovely gifts for our home doesn’t quite make sense at the moment, eh?  Instead, we’ve come up with three options we’re totally excited about!

  • Amazon Registry: There are gifts here (mainly cookware, a duvet, and some lighting) for our new vacation cabin in Index and future home in, um, wherever.   We realize some of you really like knowing exactly what you’ve given us and we do salivate over all these neat things!  So, go for it!
  • Gift Cards:  These are also listed on the Amazon Registry so we can keep track of what we’re getting!  We’ll probably save the majority of them to furnish our home upon return, but the cabin and the RV will definitely need a little love this summer as well!  Included in the Amazon list are cards for West Elm/Williams Sonoma, REI, Target and University Village (Crate and Barrel, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware).
  • This is a sweet site where you can make contribution to our ROAD TRIP USA! We’ve included some things we’re dying to do and are also asking for your recommendations (restaurants, adventures, spas, national parks, etc).  Regardless of your gift choice, you should check out this site for more information on our trip…
